MENLO PARK (KRON) — For some of us the idea of going 99 minutes without Facebook induces a panic response so how would it be possible to go 99 days without the popular social network?
That’s exactly the challenge one group is proposing.
The organizers of 99 Days of Freedom say they came up with the idea in response to Facebook’s controversial mood experiment in which users were presented with slightly more positive or negative messages in their news feeds.
The people behind the new movement say they’re conducting their own experiement that they describe as “an online study on how life without Facebook impacts user happiness.”
To join, they say you should just download their 99 Days of Freedom logo, set that as your Facebook profile picture, and then start enjoying 99 days without likes, comments, statuses, or anything else on the site.
