SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – In today’s People Behaving Badly report, KRON 4′s Stanley Roberts finds drivers passing San Francisco’s iconic cable cars while passengers are boarding. It’s illegal, says Stanley, and could result in a fine of $300. Worse, the practice of hurried drivers to zoom by passengers getting on and off the cable cars is dangerous.
Cable cars are a huge part of San Francisco’s history and a major tourist attraction.
In fact, they are listed as a United States historical landmark.
Because of their historical status, adding flashing lights, mechanical arms that drop to stop drivers or stop signs is not possible.
