OAKLAND — Police are offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of a driver that fled the scene after hitting and fatally injuring a man walking in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood last weekend.
The victim, identified by an Alameda County coroner’s sergeant as William Hoch Jr. of Oakland, was walking in the 5000 block of Telegraph Avenue around 7:35 a.m. last Saturday when a car struck him, police said.
The driver fled the scene and has not been identified.
Hoch was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
Oakland police Capt. Anthony Toribio said investigators continue to search for evidence that might lead them to the driver. He said police do not have a suspect description.
“We are still very much in need of any witnesses that may have seen what happened,” he said.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Oakland police.
