SANTA ROSA (AP) – A 46-year-old man faces murder and other charges in connection with the slayings of three men during a botched marijuana deal last month in Northern California.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports Mark Cappello of Central City, Colo., was charged Tuesday with being the shooter in a special-circumstances murder case that could bring the death penalty if he is convicted.
Cappello is suspected of killing three men Feb. 5 inside a home near Forestville. The victims were 26-year-old Raleigh Butler, 46-year-old Richard Lewin and 42-year-old Todd Klarkowski.
Authorities say the three men had arranged to buy a large amount of marijuana at the home where Butler’s mother lived.
Cappello was arrested Feb. 14 in Alabama.
