Man Arrested After Shooting At Occupied Vehicle In Front of Police

SAN JOSE (KRON) — Police are investigating a shooting in South San Jose in which officers saw a man fire a handgun into an occupied vehicle.
At about 3:18 p.m. on Friday, San Jose police officers were on patrol near Ezie Street and Richdale Avenue when they observed a male standing outside a vehicle talking to the occupant. The male pedestrian brandished a handgun and began to fire in the direction of the vehicle as it took off at a high rate of speed, according to police.
“SJPD patrol officers immediately conducted a high risk pedestrian stop on the suspect and he was taken into custody without further incident. The gun was recovered and rendered safe,” police said.
The vehicle that was involved was not located and remains at large. It is unknown if the occupant of the vehicle was struck by the gunfire. Officers are contacting the local hospitals to inquire if they have any gunshot victims
SJPD officers are canvassing the neighborhood to check on the welfare of the citizens as well as locate potential witnesses.
The adult male suspect will be booked in the County Jail.
