NAPA (KRON) — Some parents in Napa are facing serious charges for allegedly leaving their toddler sleeping in the car while they went in to buy shoes.

Someone spotted the little boy was sleeping in the back of a Chevy Tahoe near the Big 5 Sporting Goods store on Trancas street on Thursday, August 21st.

Firefighters and paramedics showed up, broke into the vehicle, and found the child non-responsive.

Emergency medical crews revived the one-to-three year old child and sent him to the hospital. The boy is okay but doctors say without intervention he could have died. Authorities think the child had been left alone in the car for about 25 minutes.

While EMS workers were treating the little boy, Napa police say Adelaido Salazar and Iveth Gutierrez emerged from a nearby Payless shoe store with a four-year old girl.

Both adults were arrested and Child Protective Services is taking care of both children.
