ANTIOCH (KRON) — A suspected car thief is in the Contra Costa County jail after getting stuck under an Oakley home.
Investigators say patrol officers on Marie Avenue in Antioch tried to pull over 44-year old James Marglin early Tuesday morning after a check on his license plates showed he was driving a stolen car.
Police say Marglin refused to pull over and instead led officers on a chase down Highway Four to Oakley where his car broke down on Highway 160.
Witnesses say the driver then fled on foot with canine officers chasing him. The police dog finally found him under a pool house on Phillips Lane. While struggling with the canine officer, detectives say Marglin got stuck under the building.
When he couldn’t get out, police had to call the fire department. Firefighters dug a trench and managed to rescue Marglin. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and then on to the jail in Martinez.
