OAKLAND — A man killed in an accident on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland early Saturday morning has been identified as 26-year-old Hayward resident Tsz Wan, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded to reports of a motorcyclist down on southbound Highway 880 north of Hegenberger Road around 3:15 a.m., CHP officials said.
Wan was driving the motorcycle at speeds of more than 70 mph, lost control for an unknown reason and struck the concrete center divider, according to the CHP.
He was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the left lane, CHP officials said.
When he attempted to get up he was struck by a passing car on the lane, according to CHP.
Emergency crews attempted to save Wan but he was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.
A Sig-alert was issued at 3:38 a.m. closing three lanes for about two and a half hours, according to CHP.
