PLEASANT HILL (KRON) — An equipment problem is disrupting BART service between the Walnut Creek and Concord stations this evening, a dispatcher for the agency said.
At 5:10 p.m. a train was taken out of service at Pleasant Hill. There was damage to the track and third rail at an interlocking which impacts both sides of the trackway.
Initial reports say that a wheel may have separated from a train and possibly damaged the track.
Crews checked out the damage and for safety determined both tracks should be taken out of service until inspection and repairs.
As of about 6:10 p.m., limited trains will running east between Walnut Creek and Concord stations however trains are not running in the westbound direction, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.
A bus bridge has been established for passengers between the Walnut Creek and Concord stations.
