EL CERRITO – The El Cerrito Plaza BART station reopened this afternoon after a shooting earlier today that sent a man to the hospital and prompted police to close the station.
BART police responded around 11:20 a.m. to a report of shots fired at the station located at 6699 Fairmount Ave. in El Cerrito. A short time later, a man approached a station agent’s booth with an apparent gunshot wound, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.
The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, Allison said. Information about his condition was not immediately available this afternoon.
The station was closed as police investigated the incident but has since reopened to train service in both directions.
No arrests had been made in connection with the shooting as of 1 p.m.
