OAKLAND (KRON) – BART unions and management are still talking, but no settlement has been reached on a new contract.
Federal Mediator George Cohen said on Wednesday that talks will continue through the night and trains will run Thursday.
Cohen said in a statement that “progress is being made.”
“Out of respect to the public and BART ridership I have also been authorized to announce that trains will be running all day tomorrow,” Cohen said.
The bargaining is continuing despite BART’s decision to impose a “last, best, and final offer” on Sunday afternoon.
BART and the two unions have been negotiating since April 1. SEIU Local 1021 represents 1,430 mechanics, custodians and clerical workers, and ATU Local 1555 represents 945 station agents, train operators and clerical workers.
