SAN JOSE (KRON) — A woman is dead after an officer-involved shooting in San Jose early Thursday morning.

Police say the incident began at 10:36 a.m. at Blossom Hill Road and Playa del Rey, a couple of blocks east of the Westfield Oakridge Mall.

Police say they responded to reports of a woman threatening to shoot her family with an Uzi on Blossom Hill Road. Responding officers made contact with the woman and a short time later the shooting happened.

The woman was taken to the hospital with a single gunshot wound.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

A neighbor tells KRON 4′s Rob Fladeboe he heard shouting and then one gunshot. The neighbor, who did not want to be identified, says paramedics spent some time working on treating the woman before she was taken to the hospital.
