NEWARK (KRON) — PG&E crews this afternoon continued to work to restore power to several intersections in Newark after a vehicle crashed into a power pole.
The crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. on Sycamore Street just south of Mayhews Landing Road.
Police said the crash knocked out power to most major intersections in the city.
At one point, as many as 3,200 customers were without power, but PG&E officials said that number was down to about 38 people by 2:30 p.m.
Information on which intersections were still affected by the outage wasn’t immediately available.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Police are working to install manual traffic devices at the intersections still affected by the outage.
PG&E officials did not say when power will be restored to all customers.
