DORRINGTON (BCN) — Authorities are looking for a former University of California at Berkeley student who went missing while camping Saturday, according to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.

Camille Withuhn, 27, of Sacramento, was last seen at about noon Saturday at the Golden Pines campground in Dorrington, according to the sheriff’s office.

Withuhn walked away from the campground toward state Highway 4 for unknown reasons.

The sheriff’s search and rescue team searched the area with a helicopter and dogs and tracked her back to the highway, where the trail went cold, sheriff’s Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt said.

Eberhardt said it appears that Withuhn got into a car there and left and there is no evidence she went into the forest.

She is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall with brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a tattoo on her left wrist and a scar on the left side of her neck.

When last seen, she was wearing a white shirt and skinny blue jeans.

Her family and friends have posted about her disappearance on social media and have said she is known to frequent the areas of Sacramento, Calaveras, Chico and Carmel.

Sheriff’s officials have asked anyone with information about Withuhn to call (209) 754-6500.
