SACRAMENTO (KRON) — An award-winning news anchor has been arrested on charges of grand theft, burglary and conspiracy.

Sabrina Rodriguez turned herself in to Sacramento police Thursday after a warrant was issued for her arrest, according to a report by KCRA.

The arrest warrant charges that Rodriguez, an anchor at Fox 40 News, aided an accomplice in the theft of 10 wallets worth $2,500 from a Coach outlet store in Folsom, the report says.

Police said that store employees recognized Rodriguez as a news anchor.

Rodriguez’s attorney said she is “100 percent innocent” of the charges. She is currently on a voluntary leave of absence from the station.

A spokesman for Fox 40 said in a written statement that the charges relate to a personal situation and is not connected with her work at Fox 40.

On her personal web site, the television news veteran says she has received awards from the Associated Press, RTDNA, National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Northern California and Pacific Southwest Chapters.

“After nearly 10 years in television news I have learned two key things about myself; I’m a storyteller and I like to win,” she says.

Rodriguez is free on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on Aug. 29.
