SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Four homes in San Francisco’s Ingleside neighborhood are damaged after a three-alarm fire into neighboring properties.

The fire broke out at about 6:35 a.m. Friday on Bright Street near Stanley. That’s just north of Brotherhood Way and I-280.

“I look up and I just see flmaes all over my face,” witness Jordan Walker says. “Everything starts burning. I can’t see anything because my eyes are burning. I can’t see my dad. I’m trying to get him but he’ trying to go save somebody because he’s trying to save someone, he was in the military, and was trying to be a hero.”

Walker’s father, Brent, says he tried to extinguish the flames himself

“When we came outside the neighbor came outside to offer assistance because we couldn’t get water,” the elder Walker tells KRON 4′s Mike Pelton. “So she handed me a fire extinguisher. I ran back in and sprayed the fire extinguisher on the mattress. I was having a little success but you know these don’t have enough in them. So when I ran back out she gave me another one but by the time I had run back in, Hazel had opened the back door so I could spray the fire from the side.”

Firefighters say the flames spread rapidly into neighboring homes through their common walls. It took several hours to bring all of the hot spots under control.

Authorities say thick fog hampered firefighting efforts. The blaze disrupted Muni service in the area including on the M-Oceanview light rail line.

Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries from the fire.

Arson investigators are now going through evidence in hopes of finding the cause of the fire.
