SALT LAKE CITY (BCN) — A Scotts Valley man reported missing after he suffered a head injury earlier this week has been found by police in Salt Lake City, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew Abraham, 20, who suffered a head injury in a bicycle accident a week ago and may have remained disoriented from it, was last seen at his residence in Scotts Valley on Wednesday evening, sheriff’s deputies said.
His disappearance prompted a search effort by the Santa Cruz County Search and Rescue Team in the Scotts Valley area on Thursday and this morning.
Abraham is in police custody in Salt Lake City, who are evaluating his medical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was also spotted in Sparks, Nev. Thursday, where a driver reported dropping off a man who looked like him at a truck stop, according to the sheriff’s office.
The driver claimed to have seen Matthew Abraham, 20, board the Megabus vehicle in San Francisco at about 8:15 a.m. and get off at about 1 p.m. at the Petro Sparks Truck Stop, Santa Cruz County sheriff’s Lt. Steve Carney said.
Carney said the driver viewed a photo of Abraham and “feels confident” he was the male passenger who left the bus at the truck stop near Interstate Highway 80.
Sheriff’s deputies, working with the Sparks Police Department, got the truck stop’s manager to pull surveillance video taken where bus passengers got off on Thursday to see if images of Abraham were on it.
Investigators found images of a person believed to be Abraham and family members confirmed it was him.
