NEW YORK (KRON) — Gotham is cracking down on Super-heroes.

New York police officers are now patrolling Times Square, handing out fliers to tourists telling them they don’t have to pay to get their picture taken with costumed characters like Superman, Spider-man, and even Sponge Bob Square Pants.

“Photos with costumed characters are free,” the flier reads. “Tipping is optional.”

Over the weekend officers busted two Iron Men, a Spider-Man, and an Elmo for blocking pedestrians. Spider-man also allegedly grabbed a tourist by the arm while trying to charge for a photo.

An immigrants-rights group says it is hoping to organize the costumed characters, many of whom are from Latin American countries.

The four jailed super-heroes were charged with disorderly conduct.
