SAN JOSE (BCN) — Two men accused of taking part earlier this month in a suspected gang-related murder of a 25-year-old San Jose resident have been arrested and police are looking for their two alleged accomplices, a police spokeswoman said today.
David Martinez, 20, and Richard Guerrero, 21, both of San Jose, were arrested in connection with the homicide of Eric Mendoza-Hurtado, who was shot to death on April 3, San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol said.
The Police Department also has arrest warrants for two other men suspected in Mendoza-Hurtado’s murder — James Guerrero, 20, and Isaac Martinez, 19, who are also from San Jose and remain at large, Randol said.
At 5:23 a.m. on April 3, police were dispatched to an area near the intersection of Lanai Avenue and Denali Way just north of Tully Road on a report of a man who had been shot.
Officers found Mendoza-Hurtado inside his vehicle and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation revealed that the motive for the shooting was related to street gang activity, police said.
Martinez and Richard Guerrero were booked in the Santa Clara County Main Jail following their arrests.
Police are urging anyone with information about the case or the wanted suspects to telephone the department’s homicide unit at (408) 277-5283.
