Registered Sex Offender Arrested in Home Burglary in San Jose

SAN JOSE (KRON) — A registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly entering a home and standing over the bed of a San Jose woman, police said.
29-year-old Ryan Kamfolt, a transient out on parole, was identified as the suspected intruder.
San Jose Police officials confirm that a woman woke up at 3:17 a.m. to find s man in her bedroom on the 0-100 block of Southbrook Drive. The 52-year-old woman screamed and was able to run out of the home. The suspect also ran away and exited the home through a back door, police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.
The woman called police and officers on patrol in the area responded within 90 seconds. A perimeter was set up in her neighborhood and police found Kamfolt pretending to be an onlooker at the crime scene.
The woman managed to get a good description of the suspect, police said. She described him as bald and wearing a plaid shirt. Police saw a man a short distance from the victim’s home and arrested Kamfolt who was positively identified by the victim a short time later.
The suspect’s car was found in front of the house and was towed away for further processing, police said.
The suspect had women’s underwear in his pocket when arrested. It is unclear if the underwear belonged to the victim
A monitoring bracelet was attached to the suspect’s ankle and he was found with a smartphone that was running an application that allowed him to monitor police scanner activity, police said.
Investigators determined that Kamfold likely entered the home by forcing open a kitchen window, police said. The victim was unharmed in the incident.
Kamfolt, who was in compliance with his registration requirements as a sex offender, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of residential burglary and a parole violation, police said.
