PORTOLA VALLEY — A small gas leak in Portola Valley Tuesday afternoon has been capped,
emergency responders said.

A construction crew performing street grinding in the area of Cervantes Road and Peak Lane caused the break at about 12:45 p.m., PG&E spokesman Jason King said.

A three-quarter-inch steel gas line was ruptured. PG&E and firefighters made sure the gas was safely venting and no evacuations were required, King said.

The flow of gas was stopped shortly after 2:30 p.m., San Mateo County emergency officials said.

King said repairs are expected to be completed by about 5 p.m.

There are no service interruptions resulting from the leak.

PG&E asks anyone performing digging or similar work to dial 811 to check for gas service lines in the area and to avoid leaks, King said.
