SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — If all goes as planned, the San Francisco, er, the Golden State Warriors could play in a shiny new toilet.
A bird’s eye view rendering for the team’s $1 billion arena and office complex in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood offers an unflattering glimpse of the Dub’s future home.
“We believe a spectacular, centrally located sports and entertainment facility, right in San Francisco, will best serve the organization, the fans and the entire Bay Area,” the team said.
In other words, the arena is flush with possibilities.
On KRON 4′s Facebook page, Tom Brandenburg said, “Maybe the team is trying to send us a message.”
The team posted plans of the privately financed 18,000-seat arena on its website. The conceptual site plan for the facility includes two office buildings and will take up residence at the corner of South Street and 3rd Street (northwest corner) and at the corner of Third Street and 16th Street (southwest corner).
The state-of-the-art, multi-purpose arena and event space will seat approximately 18,000 people.
The Warriors said they are targeting the 2018-19 season for opening its new arena.
It’s unclear if the team will still be known as the Golden State Warriors. “At this point, the plans only call for constructing a state-of-the-art arena for the Golden State Warriors on San Francisco Bay,” the team said.
Additional project information and detailed design images will be released in September, the team said.
