SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The weather is beautiful, lots of us have the start of the long weekend off, but traffic around the Bay Area is terrible Friday afternoon.
Images from our helicopter partners at ABC7News show long lines of cars passing through the metering lights onto the westbound approach to the Bay Bridge.
KRON 4′s Gabe Slate sat in another mess for an hour because of an accident near the intersection of I-280 and Highway 101.
KRON 4′s Grant Lodes picked up the phone to talk with Mike Ferguson at the CHP who says it’s a perfect storm of problems including residual delays from a glitch at the Bay Bridge metering lights Friday morning, the closure of northbound I-280, a Giants home game Friday evening and the typical bad traffic on a holiday weekend Friday. The CHP also says some people may have delayed their trips in the City after hearing about the earlier problems with the metering lights.
The best places to know about the traffic are on the KRON 4 mobile app, the KRON4.com Traffic Page, and of course on KRON 4 TV.
