SALINAS (KRON) — Police have released surveillance video on Wednesday that shows the deadly attack by two masked men inside a Salinas convenience store.

A report by local station KBSW said that a Hot Stop store employee was talking with two friends Friday night when one man, armed with a red box cutter, and a second man, armed with a revolver, stormed inside and demanded all of the store’s cash.

The footage then shows the gunman firing a shot in the direction of the group and appears to instruct the cashier to open the register. The employee steps away from the register and that’s when the suspect fires a second shot striking the victim.

Because the employee took too long to open the cash register, all three were shot, police said.

The employee’s friend, 62-year-old Sook Mi Oh, died later that night at a hospital. The other two victims are expected to recover from their gunshot wounds.

One assailant, shown in the video wearing a white sweatshirt, appears to have injured his right hand while beating one of the victims.

Police described the first suspect as 6 feet tall and possibly nursing an injury to his right hand. The other suspect is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall, with a stocky build.

Anyone with information can call Detective Gerry Magana at 831-758-7129 and Detective Ken Schwener at 831-758- 7276.
